The 1950's, mid century iconic theatre & stage light, pattern 23.
 
This great example of British design, and the workhorse of theatre lighting, was originally manufactured by The Strand Lighting Company in their Covent Garden works in London’s West End, England circa 1950's.
With it's Atomic and Airstream styling  this fantastic and original statement piece will be a conversation feature for any chosen interior.
 
This light was originally painted, it has since been stripped, polished and rewired with a domestic household light fitting allowing for some lovely subtle mood lighting.
 
To compliment this great light we have mounted it onto a vintage surveyors Oak/Beech tripod thus making the light adjustable in height and enabling the light to swivel and rotate on the tripod for maximum effect.
The tripod legs have been lightly sanded and oiled allowing the retention of the timbers lovely aged and vintage patina. 
The tripods brass fittings have been stripped of paint and then  polished. The steel fittings have been stripped and then repainted.
A leather balm has been applied to the strap which is in good condition for age.
 
Overall a lovely feature light and tripod showcasing some quality great British mid century style and design.
