An original industrial Herbert Terry "The Anglepoise" lamp in black with original Crabtree bakelite switched lamp holder, all original nuts, bolts, washers and paintwork.
This is the long arm 1209 model circa 1940's possibly earlier.
This particular model shares some parts with the earlier pre war Carwardine models, Herbert Terry often used whatever parts were to hand or in stock to make up lamps and as such expect Brass, Steel and aluminium parts in varying places.
The base is a heavy solid cast iron short stem piece with faceted sides in fine crinkle finish paint and weighs in at over 5 kilos.
The Stem is manufacture stamped in tiny writing at the rear.
These lamps are extremely stable and hold their position at all angles, including at full stretch, with little or no wobble or looseness at the bases. Very useful when a long reach is required.
This one has been rewired at some time in it's life a with a modern British made double insulated twisted flex.
We recommend using classic style LED 8W bulbs (60W equivalent) they run much cooler and will prolong the life of the rare lamp holders and the extra weight makes no difference to the lamp's ability to hold position.
SIZE :
Full reach extended upward ffrom base 1050mm
Full horizontal stretch 1100mm
Base 220mm x 220mm
CONDITION :
Overall very good for age, rewired, functioning very well with springs and arms holding their position.
Age related chips, knocks and scratches, some minor denting to the aluminium shade.
Very light surface rust in places.
Overall still a great functioning classic investment lamp.
